Glenn
My name is Glenn. I was involved in a motorcycle accident on May 4, 2007. Due to the severity of my injuries, my left leg was amputated below the knee and my left elbow was destroyed. From the time of my accident until September 21, 2008, two different CPOs saw me, and I was fit with an elevated vacuum socket with a urethane liner and sleeves.
The first would not listen to my complaints and the second was kept so busy that he could not spend enough time with me to properly evaluate and fit my check sockets. During this time I was fitted with numerous check sockets and not one of them fit comfortably. A lot of the time I waited until I had to go somewhere or do something before I put my check socket on because it was extremely painful and a bad fit, this was until I found MK Prosthetic & Orthotic Services.
I was seen by Mark Kirchner, CPO/LPO at MK Prosthetic & Orthotic Services on October 8, 2008, and was fitted for an elevated vacuum assisted check socket. I received it on October 13, and the fit was great! No modifications were required. Mark sent me home after explaining in detail how this system works and what to look for in regards to volume loss. I returned in ten days so they could finish the definitive prosthesis and it was delivered to me the following day.
Now I get up in the morning, put my definitive socket on and do whatever I have planned. I’d like to thank Mark and his staff for their professionalism and efficiency.
