Matthew the Football Player
My name is Matthew and I am a cancer survivor and a BK amputee. I am very thankful to God for everything he has done for my family and me. He has allowed me to do things, and meet people I never dreamed of.
When I first met my prosthetist, Mark Kirchner, CPO/LPO, he was very open and serious with me about my care and what my options were. His manner allowed me to be myself. I was extremely comfortable with him and was able to communicate openly and honestly with him. That is one of the best things I like about Mark. My parents and I along with Mark, all seem to be on the same page regarding my prosthetic care and the importance of sports in my life. I love to play football and I’m the first amputee to play football in San Antonio. I play on the kick-off special team and as a wide receiver for my high school. I also love to run track and have other hobbies too. Mark and MK have a lot to do with helping me to participate in the activities I love.
For me, MK is the place I got a step ahead! It’s been wonderful for me. I feel very close to everyone there.
