All of our professional staff are ABC Certified and licensed by the state of Texas. Practitioner certification and licensure requires the profession’s most rigorous educational and examination achievements.

MK’s team of practitioners and support staff focus daily on meeting each patient’s specialized needs, specific lifestyle patterns, and activity levels.  Our practitioners often encounter clinical situations which require them to develop unique devices to meet the varying needs of our patients.

Meet our team:

Mark Kirchner, CPO/LPO Certified Licensed Prosthetist Orthotist
Mark Kirchner, founder of MK Prosthetic & Orthotic Services, is a Certified Orthotist and Prosthetist by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics, and Pedorthics (ABC). He is also certified by The Board for Orthotist/Prosthetist Certification (BOC) and state licensed in Texas.  Mark has served as Vice President of the Texas Association of Orthotists/Prosthetists and is an active member of the American Academy of Orthotists & Prosthetists (AAOP).  He has been practicing since 1990 and has clinical experience in both orthotics and prosthetics. Mark is a well-rounded CPO with specialties in orthopedic and sports bracing as well as pediatric management of orthotic and prosthetic conditions. He is an industry leader in elevated vacuum socket technology in lower extremity prosthetics and embraces this technology in his commitment to prosthetic excellence in the South Texas area.
Chase Brown, CPO/LPO
Chase Brown joined the MK team in 2009 and has worked in prosthetics and orthotics for nearly 10 years. He holds degrees from Texas A&M University and UT Southwestern, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in prosthetics and orthotics. Chase completed his orthotic and prosthetic residencies at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York, and has particular interest in lower extremity prosthetics.
Randy Farley, CP/LP Certified Licensed Prosthetist
Randy is an ABC-certified prosthetist who joined the MK team in 2004.  He has more than 25 years of experience in fitting and fabricating prosthetics.  Randy received his certification in prosthetics from Northwestern University.
Gary Gaither, CO/LO Certified Licensed Orthotist
Gary joined the MK team in 2003 and began his career in this field in 1986.  He earned a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from the University of Arkansas and his orthotics certificate from Northwestern University.
Matthew Harris, CO/LO, Prosthetic Resident
Matthew joined the MK team in 2008, completed both his orthotic and prosthetic residencies, and is currently an ABC-certified and state licensed orthotist. He is set to take his prosthetic board exams in 2011. Matthew received his graduate certificates in orthotics and prosthetics from California State University 2008 and earned a bachelor's degree from Texas State University in Industrial Technology.
Mike Hays, CO/LO Certified Licensed Orthotist
Mike joined the MK team in 2005 and has more than 15 years of experience in orthotics. He is an ABC-certified practitioner, earning his bachelor's degree in science from University of Northern Iowa, and his orthotic certification from Northeast Metro Technical College in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Michael Manney, CO/LO Certified Licensed Orthotist
Michael has nearly 25 years of experience in fitting and fabricating orthoses.  He has been a team member at MK since 2006.  In addition to working as a certified and licensed orthotist, Michael has also worked as a prosthetic technician.  He is a specialist in lower extremity orthotics.
Seth O'Brien, Prosthetic Resident
Seth joined the MK team in 2010 and is a prosthetic resident. Seth received his bachelor's degree from the University of Arizona, and his graduate prosthetic certificate from California State University Dominguez Hills. As an amputee himself (and proud cancer survivor), Seth enjoys being able to relate to his patients and to what many of them are experiencing.
Mona Patel, LCSW Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Mona is a strong advocate for amputee's rights, education, and support. Being a BK amputee herself, and using her skills as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, she provides peer support for patients before and after amputations. Mona founded and is the group leader for the local amputee support group. She is the regional representative for the Amputee Coalition of America. Mona is very active and enjoys fitness, running and traveling. Mona has been a patient of Mark's for many years. See her testimonial on our Patients page.
